Meet the Faculty

  • Cara Chang Mutert

    LEAD TRAINER, 500 E-RYT, CYEP

    Cara is owner/director of The Yoga Lounge, which she founded in 2004. Cara’s teaching style is Iyengar alignment based, gentle, meditative, flowing and therapeutic in nature. After more than 30 years of study, practice, and training, she has earned two 500-hour advanced certifications. Her first in 2010 from Prairie Yoga, studying with Lori Gaspar, and her second more recently from Prajna Yoga, as a result of her continued studies with Tias Little. She earned her original 200-hr. certification with Kim Schwartz through the Temple of Kriya Yoga, Chicago.

  • Jon Uidl

    500-CYT

    Jon is a 500-hour yoga instructor who trained at Moksha Yoga Center, Chicago with Daren Friesen, Kim Wilcox and Rich Logan, and at Prajna Yoga, Santa Fe, NM with Tias Little. He continues to study with master teachers Gabriel Halpern and Tias Little.

  • Denise Yager

    Advanced Anatomy 500-RYT

    Denise has been teaching since 2004 and completed her 500 hour certification at Prairie Yoga. and her 200-hour training at Kalitrea . Her interest in making yoga accessible has led her to teach classes for everyone from young children to senior citizens. The teachers who continue to have the biggest influence on her teaching style include Jill Thomas, Gabriel Halpern, Paul Grilley, Rolf Gates, and Susi Hately.

Cost for our 200 hour training program: $3295. SAVE $200 if tuition is paid in full one month prior to start of the training. Books, required special guest workshops and weekly practice classes are not included, however one free 10-class card is offered as part of the program. $300 non-refundable deposit required to hold your spot. $200 Early Bird Discount if tuition is paid in full 1 month prior to training. Payment plans are available for an additional fee.

Additional training workshops offered at The Yoga Lounge along with regular attendance to weekly classes, home study assignments, karma yoga and thesis project will also be required to fulfill Yoga Alliance certification requirements. As Yoga Alliance approved Yoga Schools, Prairie Yoga and The Yoga Lounge will only award certification upon 100% satisfactory completion of the training.

Prerequisites: 200 hour applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of consistent asana practice or recommendation from your yoga instructor.

  • Lori Gaspar

    C-IAYT, 500 E-RYT, YACEP

    Lori is founder and director of Prairie Yoga and is known as a "teacher of teachers" – she developed the yoga teacher training curriculums that have trained over 700 yoga teachers in the Midwest. Her current teaching integrates natural movement to bring more strength and stability into the yoga practice. Lori is a certified yoga therapist, writes for a number of yoga publications, served on Yoga Alliance’s Ethics and Standards Advisory committees and was named by Yoga Chicago as an outstanding woman leader in Chicago’s yoga community.

  • Linda Troutman

    BS, C-IAYT, 500 E-RYT, YACEP

    Linda has practiced yoga for over 30 years and taught for 18 years. Linda is a C-IAYT yoga therapist with a 1000 hour yoga therapy certification from Yoga North and International Soma Yoga Institute. She is primary faculty for the 250 and 500 hour teacher trainings at Prairie Yoga. Linda has earned a Certificate for Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors Professional Training from Duke Integrative Medicine; is certified 500 hour by Prairie Yoga; is a Certified YogaKids® teacher; and certified Yoga for Healthy Aging teacher through Baxter Bell, MD.

  • Tricia Fiske

    500 E-RYT, YACEP

    Tricia has been a teacher since 1999. She is primary faculty for Prairie Yoga’s Teacher Training programs. She has been studying with ParaYoga founder Rod Stryker since 2000 and is one of the first level 3 certified teachers in the ParaYoga tradition. ParaYoga’s mission is to touch as many lives as possible with the power and wisdom of yoga. It recognizes Yoga as an ancient tradition, capable of enriching all aspects of modern life.
