Learn how to teach an integrated style of yoga and start a new chapter in your life! In this program you will deepen and strengthen your own practice, learn safe alignment and sequencing for yourself and your students, and develop a greater understanding of yoga and its philosophy. Our comprehensive curriculum will be taught by lead instructor, Cara Chang Mutert E-RYT 500, Director of The Yoga Lounge, along with Guest Faculty Master Yoga Instructor Gabriel Halpern. Additionally, Yoga Lounge instructors Denise Yager, Jon Uidl, Leslie Dallas, Gina McGuire, Nancy Loessl and Laura Brown will be assisting with the training. The Yoga Lounge 200-hour Teacher Training Program is approved by Yoga Alliance, the international registry that sets and maintains educational standards.
Course Schedule: Meets once a month on Friday 6-9 p.m. and Saturday & Sundays 12-5 p.m.
Attendance to EVERY weekend is REQUIRED for certification. Weekend dates are as follows:
Learn to teach yoga to others and develop a better understanding of different yoga techniques through guided asana practice, discussion and practical analysis. Find out how to design and clearly instruct a safe and well-planned class in a variety of styles and sequence them appropriately. Additional topics covered will include anatomy and physiology, class sequencing, pranayama, meditation, alignment-based classes, vinyasa with awareness, gentle yoga with props, restorative, yin yoga, yoga nidra and chair yoga. Teaching methods will include demonstration principals, cueing and key actions, hands on adjustments, corrections and assists, modifications, special populations, effective communication, and balancing of business and yoga ethics.
Get an introduction to the subtler sides of the practice, including yoga philosophy, Yamas and Niyamas and the importance of understanding your own tendencies, predispositions and samskaras through self-study and the more introspective aspects of practice. Topics will include: Introduction to Yoga Philosophy, including the eight limbs of yoga with emphasis on the Yamas & Niyamas, and discussion of Ethics and Service, Doshas, Ayurveda and Lifestyle.
Additional training workshops offered at The Yoga Lounge along with regular attendance to weekly classes, home study assignments, karma yoga and thesis project will also be required to fulfill Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification requirements. Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of consistent asana practice or recommendation from your yoga instructor.
Cost for the program is $2895. Register by August 1 and receive a $100 discount. Books, workshops and weekly practice classes are not included. Applications should be accompanied by a non-refundable $895 deposit. Full payment is due by Sept. 1. For those requiring a payment plan, arrangements can be made for an additional fee. As a Yoga Alliance approved Yoga School, The Yoga Lounge will only award 200 hour certification upon 100% satisfactory completion of the training.
